Giving Tuesday: Help Make Our Mission a Reality
Nov 25, 2014
We have Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year, followed by Cyber Monday. During this time when we should be giving thanks, we are out shopping, that’s where Giving Tuesday comes in. Launched by the United Nations, Giving Tuesday is a day that brings awareness to nonprofits, our mission and gain new advocates. Giving Tuesday raised over $10 million across the US and expect that number to grow exponentially year after year.
Avalon Hills Foundation is one of only a handful of organizations dedicated to advancing awareness of eating disorders by funding treatment through our small grants program. We are also one of the only organizations that fund research, awareness and advocacy projects. In 2014 alone we’ve dedicated $50,000 towards our mission and in 2015 we hope to dramatically increase that. It takes eating disorder advocates and supporters, like yourself, to make this a reality.
We are using Giving Tuesday not only as a day to raise funds for our mission but to spread awareness of eating disorders and the impact they have on our community; nearly half of all Americans know someone with an eating disorder. No longer can we stand idly by, together we can reduce the number of eating disorders around the globe.
